If you’re preparing for birth, you’ve probably spent a lot of time thinking about labor, delivery, and the baby.
What often gets less attention is the season that comes after, when routines shift, sleep is unpredictable, and you’re learning how to care for yourself while caring for a new baby.
Hi, I'm Jaquie,
I’m a New Parent Educator, Pediatric Sleep Consultant, and Postpartum Doula. I’ve spent years preparing families for early parenthood and supporting them through the early weeks. I’ve also been there myself. When I was pregnant with my first baby, I focused on preparing for birth and the baby. What I didn’t fully anticipate was how much support and information I would need once my baby arrived, especially around recovery, sleep, and the emotional adjustment of early parenthood. I created this self-check to offer a different kind of preparation. Not a checklist to perfect, but a gentle way to notice where you feel informed and prepared and where you might want more clarity
What This Self-Check Is (and Isn’t)
This self-check is not a test, an assessment, or something you need to complete perfectly. It’s a simple set of reflective questions designed to help you pause and consider what support might matter most during the early weeks after birth. There are no right or wrong answers. Many parents notice areas where they feel ready and others where they feel unsure. This awareness alone can be incredibly helpful.
Inside the Self-Check

focused on recovery, sleep expectations, emotional adjustment, and day-to-day support
